I am fascinated with the World’s Ugliest Dog Contest. Every year people show their dogs and try to be the ugliest? I don’t Know why that would be something to be proud about or win $1,000 for. This years winner was decided in June. Yoda, who is a Chinese Crested Chihuahua mix isn’t a pretty sight. It’s just very crazy if you ask me. Comment with your crazy pet contests!!!
According to Wikipedia a pet is known as ”
A pet is a household animal kept for companionship and a person’s enjoyment, as opposed to wild animals or to livestock, laboratory animals, working animals or sport animals, which are kept for economic or productive reasons. The most popular pets are noted for their loyal or playful characteristics, for their attractive appearance, or for their song. Pets also generally seem to provide their owners with non-trivial health benefits; keeping pets has been shown to help relieve stress to those who like having animals around. There is now a medically-approved class of “therapy animals,” mostly dogs, that are brought to visit confined humans. Walking a dog can provide both the owner and the dog with exercise, fresh air, and social interaction. The most popular pets are dogs and cats, but there are also rodent pets, such as gerbils, hamsters, chinchillas, fancy rats, and guinea pigs, and avian pets, such as canaries, parakeets, or parrots.” Do you think thats what pets are? if not submit your definition.
Pets are becoming a big part of life everywhere you go! and i can tell you why. There is usually a pet that fits every person and to bond with. In the USA there is almost if not 1 pet for every person. (that doesn’t mean everyone has a pet though) Over 70 million dogs, over 90 million cats, over 145 million (freshwater and saltwater combined), over 15 million birds, over 10 million reptiles and over 15 others! Compare that to the about 350 million people and they almost equal our population. But thats not all bad! They become part of the family, given as gifts, sleep mostly in owners bed, feed them, insure them, you play with them, they create jobs (like HeartyPet)! Thats just in the USA. Incredible but too bad that some people disrespect animals and mistreat them. There is a good and bad to everything.
A report shows people with social networking profiles that have pets tend to make profiles for their pets (about 6% now). This trend is mostly popular with the british. I think this is very interesting. Do you have a social network profile? Does your pet? If so i recommend you and your pet check out Heartypet on facebook (page) and on twitter @HeartyPet.
I noticed something in the Heartypet store that caught my eye. Cranimals cranberries for cats and dogs.
I think it is a brilliant idea! Now your pet can get the health and deliciousness out of a cranberry that we get! It has PROTEIN, FIBER, OMEGA 3, CALCIUM, etc.
I’ve always been interested in the sport called dock diving. Its very popular on the coastal regions, east and west. People train their pets specifically for this very athletic event. When it is a dog’s turn, the trainer usually has his/her dog sit and then takes a toy and throws it as far as possible into the giant pool.
Instinctively, the dog goes after it and ends up jumping far. The farther the dog goes before landing in the water is the winner. They measure where the nose is. I’m just so amazed at how far these dogs can jump. The record right now is at 29ft 1in held by Smoke, a chesapeake bay retriever.
Do you know of any pet sports that are more interesting as that. I would love to hear your comments on your favorite pet sports, or even sports you’ve made up.!
There are videos popping up on the internet of many things.
It is easy to become viral now a days.
Viral is when a video gets over 1 million watches in a short span of time.
This is simply a bulldog riding a skateboard.
People like it so much and share it that it has over 16 million watches.
Share your favorite viral pet vid.
People love pets and people love sports. Some like to mix them together.
There is nothing like man’s, and woman’s, best friend watching a good sporting event with you! It’s great bonding time.
I know people, and you probably do too, that dress their pets up just as they dress themselves up for those: baseball, football, basketball games. No matter how ridiculous you both might look, it’s pretty fun! Especially when your team wins!
I know for a fact some baseball teams, minor and major league, have taken their dog to the ball park day(s). That would be a fun idea! What do you do with your pets when there is a big game coming on? Tell us your interesting stories and what team(s) you support!
