World’s Ugliest Dog 2011
I am fascinated with the World’s Ugliest Dog Contest. Every year people show their dogs and try to be the ugliest? I don’t Know why that would be something to be proud about or win $1,000 for. This years winner was decided in June. Yoda, who is a Chinese Crested Chihuahua mix isn’t a pretty sight. It’s just very crazy if you ask me. Comment with your crazy pet contests!!!
What is a “pet”?

Pets taking over the USA???
Pets are becoming a big part of life everywhere you go! and i can tell you why. There is usually a pet that fits every person and to bond with. In the USA there is almost if not 1 pet for every person. (that doesn’t mean everyone has a pet though) Over 70 million dogs, over 90 million cats, over 145 million (freshwater and saltwater combined), over 15 million birds, over 10 million reptiles and over 15 others! Compare that to the about 350 million people and they almost equal our population. But thats not all bad! They become part of the family, given as gifts, sleep mostly in owners bed, feed them, insure them, you play with them, they create jobs (like HeartyPet)! Thats just in the USA. Incredible but too bad that some people disrespect animals and mistreat them. There is a good and bad to everything.
Adopt-a-cat Month
July is Adopt-a-cat Month. July is coming to an end. So here is the postives/negatives to owning your very own cat.
Pros: Cute, affectionate, keeps you company when alone, Stress relief, keep themselves clean, good attitude, quiet. (don’t apply to ALL cats)
Cons: Litter Box cleaning, brushing (or they shed), hide, cost of food, fleas, scratch and bite (if it has no toys)
The pros outweigh the cons. Find the right one for you and yor family (My SPCA has a card that tells everything about the animal). So get out there and ADOPT-A-CAT. Also, it doesn’t have to be July for you to adopt one. Also, personally i recommend adoption before buying an animal just because of what happens to them if they are not adopted.

Vacation Traveling… with your pet!
Its a hassle and big cost to hire a dog sitter or put your dog into a kennel. Also, can you trust those people? Why not take your pet on vacation with you? Believe it or not it may be a cheaper way to go! for American Airlines it costs $175 or less for your pet to board the plane. They can even be in the cabin with you if you reserve ahead of time! Pet friendly hotels add around $25 for pets to stay. All of you love your pets (i hope) and it could be enjoyable! You just might have to plan it out a little more ahead of time than usual. Costs and Availability may vary. Really consider it and have a fun vacation everyone!
5 Years!!!!!
It is approaching July 2011!!! Its summer. Summer is for fun. So what is coming up in this next month? Independence Day, National Ice cream Day, Hammock Day, etc. But, what really matters is Heartypet will be turning 5 years old. Its up and running hard!
