1:55pm eastern time today an earthquake about 5.9 on the richter scale hit in the area of Mineral, VA. I was not too far from it so i felt it. I have never experienced an earthquake and it was quite a ride and scare to people. My pets didn’t act differently but i heard that some of my friends pets did. Where are you located? Did you feel it? How did your pets react? thanks for sharing this experience with me!
I am fascinated with the World’s Ugliest Dog Contest. Every year people show their dogs and try to be the ugliest? I don’t Know why that would be something to be proud about or win $1,000 for. This years winner was decided in June. Yoda, who is a Chinese Crested Chihuahua mix isn’t a pretty sight. It’s just very crazy if you ask me. Comment with your crazy pet contests!!!
According to Wikipedia a pet is known as ”
A pet is a household animal kept for companionship and a person’s enjoyment, as opposed to wild animals or to livestock, laboratory animals, working animals or sport animals, which are kept for economic or productive reasons. The most popular pets are noted for their loyal or playful characteristics, for their attractive appearance, or for their song. Pets also generally seem to provide their owners with non-trivial health benefits; keeping pets has been shown to help relieve stress to those who like having animals around. There is now a medically-approved class of “therapy animals,” mostly dogs, that are brought to visit confined humans. Walking a dog can provide both the owner and the dog with exercise, fresh air, and social interaction. The most popular pets are dogs and cats, but there are also rodent pets, such as gerbils, hamsters, chinchillas, fancy rats, and guinea pigs, and avian pets, such as canaries, parakeets, or parrots.” Do you think thats what pets are? if not submit your definition.
Pets are becoming a big part of life everywhere you go! and i can tell you why. There is usually a pet that fits every person and to bond with. In the USA there is almost if not 1 pet for every person. (that doesn’t mean everyone has a pet though) Over 70 million dogs, over 90 million cats, over 145 million (freshwater and saltwater combined), over 15 million birds, over 10 million reptiles and over 15 others! Compare that to the about 350 million people and they almost equal our population. But thats not all bad! They become part of the family, given as gifts, sleep mostly in owners bed, feed them, insure them, you play with them, they create jobs (like HeartyPet)! Thats just in the USA. Incredible but too bad that some people disrespect animals and mistreat them. There is a good and bad to everything.
I don’t really watch this show and i’m not into it but it is good for pet people. Shorty Rossi and some friends rescue and rehab Pit Bulls. Pit Bulls are known as dangerous scary dogs. But, you can’t stereotype they are just misunderstood! So, Shorty Rossi and Hercules (his dog) will be at the fundraiser for a no kill shelter near Ocean City. Details: $45, The Harvest Moon Tavern at 208 West Green Street in Snow Hill, Maryland, September 3, 2011 from 6 p.m. – midnight.
July is Adopt-a-cat Month. July is coming to an end. So here is the postives/negatives to owning your very own cat.
Pros: Cute, affectionate, keeps you company when alone, Stress relief, keep themselves clean, good attitude, quiet. (don’t apply to ALL cats)
Cons: Litter Box cleaning, brushing (or they shed), hide, cost of food, fleas, scratch and bite (if it has no toys)
The pros outweigh the cons. Find the right one for you and yor family (My SPCA has a card that tells everything about the animal). So get out there and ADOPT-A-CAT. Also, it doesn’t have to be July for you to adopt one. Also, personally i recommend adoption before buying an animal just because of what happens to them if they are not adopted.
rom toys to food to flea/tick supplies. Which kind of stuff do you prefer? Why? Which kind don’t you prefer? Why?
Its a hassle and big cost to hire a dog sitter or put your dog into a kennel. Also, can you trust those people? Why not take your pet on vacation with you? Believe it or not it may be a cheaper way to go! for American Airlines it costs $175 or less for your pet to board the plane. They can even be in the cabin with you if you reserve ahead of time! Pet friendly hotels add around $25 for pets to stay. All of you love your pets (i hope) and it could be enjoyable! You just might have to plan it out a little more ahead of time than usual. Costs and Availability may vary. Really consider it and have a fun vacation everyone!
It is approaching July 2011!!! Its summer. Summer is for fun. So what is coming up in this next month? Independence Day, National Ice cream Day, Hammock Day, etc. But, what really matters is Heartypet will be turning 5 years old. Its up and running hard! So, go over to our facebook page and post Heartypet a congratulations on making these 5 years a good one for everyone (Employees, Suppliers, and Most of all Customers!!!)
It’s getting close to that day of the year again! Patriotic spirit comes out in everyone. It seems like freedom flows through the air. Yes, it is the 4th of July, independence day. Cookouts, playing with your pets, and then there is fireworks. Fireworks are fun to watch and listen to for most of us. Our pets don’t seem to care for them too much. Barking, cowering in fear, and stress because they don’t know what it is. What can we do to help them get through that? Keep them inside and make them a “safety den” where they feel they can go during that uncomfortable time. Maybe, it would be easier to use a crate or something. Make sure they like it. Then, when you know it is getting towards that time tire them out so they don’t injure themselves when freaking out or over exert themselves. Have a nice, safe holiday!
